| WELCOME! You have reached the home page of The New Jersey Society of Christian Writers (NJSCW). Founded in August 1992 by Dr. Mary Ann Diorio, the NJSCW has as its purpose the training of Christian writers in the State of New Jersey to respond to God's call on their lives to "write the vision and make it plain" (Habakkuk 2:2). The vision is the Good News of salvation through Jesus Christ.
Our membership includes beginning, intermediate, and professional writers residing in the State of New Jersey. While our ministry covers writing for fellow Christians, our chief focus is on producing written material for the secular media in fulfillment of our Lord's mandate to disciple all nations and to teach them obedience to His commands (Matthew 28:19-20). Our Vision: The New Jersey Society of Christian Writers exists to train, equip, and encourage Christian writers to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the world through their writing. Our Mission: To reach the world for Jesus Christ through the written word. Specifically, our objectives are as follows: 1. To disciple our local community and our nation by writing Bible-based material for the secular media. 2. To abide in Jesus Christ, the Vine, through consistent, diligent study of His Word and through prayer and fasting in order that we may bear fruit for Him. 3. To uplift fellow members in prayer. 4. To commit to consistent, diligent study of the craft of writing through seminars, conferences, books and magazines, correspondence courses, etc. 5. To keep abreast of local and world events in order that we may write with knowledge and credibility. 6. To read both Christian and secular material so that our writing will reflect a solid understanding of the world, thus increasing the power and impact of the Biblical perspective we present. 7. To avoid the use of Christian jargon that blocks good communication and alienates the very people we are trying to reach. 8. To pursue accuracy in research. 9. To commit to writing at least one manuscript a month. 10. To meet on a regular basis for the purpose of growing both as Christians and as writers. PUBLICATIONS BY NJSCW MEMBERS NJSCW publishes a quarterly newsletter entitled The King's Pages as well as an annual literary journal entitled Sword & Plume. A one-year subscription to The King's Pages is $5.00. The yearly issue of Sword & Plume is $5.00.
